I was going to give it less as the comments scored the staff low and I encountered a bit of understanding why. Then Amanda greeted me at breakfast and changed everything, lovely bubbly friendly and the amount of hotels I stay in this is the first occasion Ive encountered someone so seemingly happy
I have stayed at this property with my wife on a number of occasions. On approaching it has a pleasant country feel to it. The entrance hall is not flashy but comfortably welcoming. Whichever rooms we have stayed in, in the main house or outbuildings, have always been clean and comfortable. The staff are bright and cheery and happy to help. This time we had one buffet breakfast (when hotel was busy) and one to personal order. Both were good
Formerly a Georgian 'gentleman's residence' with glorious views, vineyard and conservatory for events. Easy access car park. Comfortable lounge sofas, but very low. Some ground floor bedrooms with easy access. En suite a little tired. Food adequate but not outstanding, although I'm told the curry was tasty. Unfortunately it was not possible to open the bedroom windows which in the absence of air conditioning was a great disadvantage.
We had a lovely wedding day, memories we will treasure forever. The staff were fantastic, friendly and approachable. The room and food were top class. All in all, an amazing day. Thank you so much.
The check in process tells me a lot about the hotel. And the lady checking us in was far too concerned with talking to a colleague than giving us good service. In terms of the hotel, its ideally situation to explore Bradford on Avon and then move on to Bath. Its a best western and as with all of the ones Ive stayed in recently they are old, in need of some investment and have seen better days. If you are looking for somewhere to stay as a quick base to explore then this isnt bad at the price. But its not luxury. It is however clean and does the job.
